Certified Translation

What Is a Certified Translation?

A certified translation is a professionally translated document accompanied by a signed statement confirming its accuracy and completeness. This certification ensures that the translation is a true and faithful representation of the original document, making it suitable for official use.

When Do You Need a Certified Translation?

Certified translations are typically required for legal, academic, and official purposes, including:
Visa and immigration applications
Birth, marriage, and death certificates
Academic transcripts and diplomas
Contracts and legal agreements
Government submissions

If your document needs to be recognised by a government agency, legal authority or educational institution, a certified translation ensures it meets the necessary requirements.

What a Certified Translation Cannot Be Used For

Notarised or Sworn Translations – A certified translation confirms accuracy, but it is not the same as a notarised or sworn translation (which some legal and international authorities may require).
Apostille or Legalisation Services – While we provide certified translations, we do not handle document legalisation or apostille services. You may need to have your translated document further authenticated by a notary or government office, depending on your needs.

If you're unsure whether a certified translation is right for your document, please do confirm with the authority that has requested it first.

Sworn Translations

What You Need to Know

While we provide Certified Translations for official documents, certain authorities may require a Sworn Translation instead. Sworn translations are more complex, as they must be completed by a translator officially recognised by the relevant country’s government or legal system.

What Is a Sworn Translation?

A Sworn Translation is a legally recognised translation that is signed and stamped by a sworn translator. In many countries, sworn translators are appointed by courts or government bodies and are authorised to certify that their translation is accurate and true to the original document.

Sworn translations are often required for:
Court documents and legal proceedings
Civil registry documents (e.g., birth, marriage, and death certificates)
Immigration and nationality applications
University admissions and degree recognitions abroad
Business and financial documents for international use

Who Might Require a Sworn Translation?

Different authorities have different requirements, so it’s essential to check before requesting a translation. Some of the institutions that may require a sworn translation include:

Certain Embassies & Immigration Offices – For visa, residency, or citizenship applications

Certain Government Departments – For official records, legal submissions, or regulatory compliance

Certain Universities & Academic Institutions – For foreign diploma recognition or scholarship applications

Certain Courts & Legal Authorities – For lawsuits, contracts, or sworn statements

Do You Need a Certified or Sworn Translation?

Not all documents require a sworn translation. Many authorities accept a Certified Translation, which includes a signed statement of accuracy from a professional translator but does not require a sworn translator’s official stamp.

Since sworn translations are legally binding and country-specific, it is your responsibility to check with the requesting authority before placing an order. Some countries require sworn translations only from their own sworn translators, while others may accept certified translations instead.

Availability & Pricing

We only provide sworn translations for certain languages and on a case-by-case basis. Due to the complexity and legal requirements involved, prices for sworn translations are available on request only.

If you need a sworn translation, please contact us with details of your document and the country where it will be submitted. We’ll guide you on whether we can assist or if you may need to consult a sworn translator directly.
